ABSTRACT
A study of the relationship between nutritional status and Kyo/Jitsu score in patients with gastrointestinal disease was carried out. The authors used the Otake Kyo/Jitsu assessment score. Cancer patients showed a greater decrease from their ideal body weight than did noncancer patients. Significant Pearson coefficients were calculated for the Kyo/Jitsu assessment score, muscle strength (r=0.6), ideal body weight (r=0.29) and serum albumin (r=0.27). It was concluded that the Kyo/Jitsu assessment score was useful in the nutritional assessment of patients with gastrointestinal disease.
